For several years’ on-line poker was just a hobby that Michael enjoyed playing while winning a little and loosing a fair amount. Then in 2008 when it became apparent that he was not going to be a 9 to 5 desk jockey, he began investing his time and effort into making this hobby pay off. By the time he graduated from the University of Virginia with a double major in both Economics and Applied Statistics/Econometrics, reef2287 had a 4th place finish in the Sunday Million for $71,945 and a 4th place finish in the Sunday 500 for $35,774.
Since graduating in May, reef2287 has had a 2nd place finish in the $109 re-buy on Pokerstars for $22,823 and a 1st in the 75k guaranteed for $18,816. In addition to these large cashes, Michael consistently makes profit playing multi table SNG’s.
Michael did not achieve his success overnight; he attributes his success to luck boxing a best friend (Spacegravy) and rigorous hard work and dedication. Reef2287 combines Spacegravy’s successful SNG playing strategies with a highly analytical and mathematical approach. In addition to his success at on-line poker play, Michael has proven to be an extremely effective coach. Reef2287 has taught many of his friends how to employ Spacegravy’s SNG gaming strategies. Now, they enjoy a positive cash flow from on-line poker play that has become their main source of income. His most successful student is brokenxj08 who was able to successfully transition to MTT's and place 1st in the Sunday 500 for $90,000.
Reef2287 has demonstrated that he can teach anyone to be a successful on-line player, regardless of their experience. Michael’s coaching track record proves that poker is not a game of chance but a game of skill. Anyone can get lucky in the short run, but in the long run, it’s the good players that make the money.
