Spacegravy poker Miami launched

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Hey guys,

Sorry for the lack of blogs lately. I have been extremely busy setting everything up in Miami and it is now ready for students. The new website will be up in a couple weeks and will start posting videos on pokervt shortly. I promised to make 3 videos a month for them this year or I would send a free student to the training center and didn’t follow it so will be starting another free student contest on there in a couple weeks. If you want to sign up for pokervt use bonus code “spacegravy”.

It has been 3 months to 2 years since my previous students and everyone is putting out great results. I’ve been teaching all of them how to crush 9 mans- 45 and 180 mans on Pokerstars.com and here are a couple of their graphs.

The first and second graphs are my students from Costa Rica about four months ago. The first one got coaching around game 14,000 and you can clearly see now, I took a slightly winning player to a hugely winning player in one week. The second graph, I taught around game 500 and although had little to no experience on pokerstars has become one of the best regs at is level and is up $18k in 4500 games. If he grinded hard, he could play that many games is just one month.

The last graph is my little brother (a college student who only plays during the summer) I put through the training program about two years ago to see if I could successfully teach someone in one week. He literally had no poker experience and taught him how to crush the games for a consistent profit.

Check back soon for the new website, hope to see you guys soon!

Huuuuuge upswong

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

Hey guys,

Sorry about the lack of blogs recently, have been putting in a ton of volume and have had insane results. I have profited well over $100k in the last couple weeks grinding sng’s, won 5 main event seats, and won the nightly 100k guranteed for $18K the other night. For the first half of this year I have profited about $250k so pretty pumped that all my hard work has paid off.  I hope to have a deep run in the Main Event to top things off. I have  found a new condo in Miami I’ll be posting pictures of soon. I will also be getting a new website and pokerstars blog soon so keep checking back. My students have also been doing well and will have their results for the new website.

Pokerstars has also recently launched their own pokershow called, “Pokerstars, the Big Game” which is a cash game with celebrity poker players and an internet qualifier called the “loose cannon”. I have watched recent episodes and have really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can convince them to have a high stake SNG so I can be on there :) Anyway, here is a preview for you guys to check out.

Busto in EPT Monte Carlo, back in Costa

Friday, May 21st, 2010

Hey guys,

I just got back from Europe where I played in the EPT Main Event and unfortunately busted right before the money. I built up a huge stack but then got coolered a couple times, all it takes to get knocked out. After I played in the event my GF flew in and we toured around Italy which was a bunch of fun. I’m back in Costa Rica now training the last three students here then packing up and moving the training center to Florida. I’ve been teaching them how to beat low stake SNG’s on Pokerstars and I’m actually looking forward to coaching now because it really doesn’t feel like work. I enjoy meeting new people from all over the world, teaching them how to win, and even learning something myself at times.

I was just thinking the last couple weeks about how hard it’s  to make it this far in my poker carreer and I’m not ready to slow down. I still have so much I want to accomplish. First, getting sponsored as a Team Pro by Pokerstars has been a huge jump. As Leatherass put it, I feel like I signed with the Yankees. Pokerstars is by far the best poker site out there and I want to do everything within my ability to promote it. I also want to grind a ton and continue to put out great numbers. Lastly, I want to make the new training center better than any other one out there. We will have the best instructors for SNG’s, cash games, and MTT’s and provide the best learning experience possible. I’ll keep everyone updated on my progress, gl.

Huge update for Spacegravy Poker Training Center

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Hey guys,

Although living in paradise for six months has been awesome, we came to the conclusion that running a business here is too difficult. It’s tough being isolated from the world and have had alot of problems with the power and internet. We have three students left then are going to pack up and move to Florida. I have also been talking to a very well known cash game player that crushes up to 10/20 and 25/50 online and has agreed to start coaching at the new training center. I’m not going to release his name yet till it’s finalized but am very excited about the addition to our team. To my knowledge there are no other live training centers that offer cash, sngs, and mtts so will be a very good addition. We are also working on starting up online classes as well.

Right now I’m in Gainesville visiting my gf then am leaving to Monte Carlo to play in the EPT Main Event. Last year I came in 11th place for $130,000 so would be nice to have another strong finish. After Monte Carlo, I’m going to France and Italy for two weeks just for fun then back to Costa Rica to train the three last students. Next will be the WSOP in Vegas then going to start the training center back up in Florida. It will be nice to live in a much more convenient location near an airport and I think will give us even more demand. I will keep everyone updated on how I am doing in Monte Carlo. Gl everyone.

Dealing with short term variance in 45 and 180 man turbos

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Hey guys,

I literally get about 15 winning players a day tell me about how bad they run and completely forget that in poker, your going to experience downswings.  Lets take a look at some of my graphs to show that even though at times your going to run very bad, if you keep playing correctly your going to be fine in the longrun.

Heres a look at my $36 180 man graph and stats:

Total games played: 1268     Roi: 33%       Total profit: $14,970

Now what’s crazy about this is that even tho I have an roi of  33%  within just 1200 games I experienced a $3,000 downswing ( 83 buyins) and a $5,000 downswing ( 139 buyins).  At one point I placed out of the money about 100 times in a row.

Now lets take a look at my $60 45 man graph with a bigger sample size.

Total games played: 6,736     Roi:  13%      Total profit: $52,133

As the number of players in the field decrease, so does your roi but so does variance. Even though I have an overall roi of 13% I still experience downswings over1,000 game stretches where I lose $5,000 ( 83 buyins).

These results just go to show you that even though you could be playing 100% correct its inevitable that you’re going to go on big downswings especially as the field of players increase and the blinds go up quicker. Being able to handle downswings and still play well is vital to being a pro poker player. Hopefully this will help my students cope with running bad and short term variance. Until next time gl guys.

No coaching this week- back to the grind

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Hey guys,

Our three students just left and after the week of training I am very confident they are going to crush the games now so can’t wait to see their results. One cool thing we have been doing is when our students leave they can still send their HH’s to us and we take notes on them and send them back. This helps reinforce and make sure they are still implementing what they have learned.

We decided to reserve one week of every month with no students so we can get anything done we need out of the way. For me it’s to grind. To maintain Supernova Elite I have to maintain 50k vpps a month. For this month I have an embarressing 11k but I can earn 10k vpps a day so won’t be too hard to get it. Last night was the first night in a couple weeks I have grinded and it felt good to be back in the games but ran bad and lost a couple thousand bucks. I didn’t really mind tho, I have been on a nice upswing this year so can’t complain when you run bad.

I also finished a two part video last night of the private spacegravy tourney where everyone who played in it sent in their hh’s so I could review it. It turned out to be a great video so everyone at pokervt.com make sure to check that out. For anyone who wants to sign up for it use bonus code spacegravy. Alright time to go surfin then back to the grind. Gl guys.

Back at the training center, three students in

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Hey guys,

I just got back from the states a couple days ago and we are currently coaching three students, two from England and one from Canada. We normally have two students  at a time but with an increased demand we have decided to add one more student a time. We’re enjoying working with a bigger group and getting alot accomplished. As for playing, I have been very busy lately so have not had time to but once the students leave I’m going to put in a ton of volume to catch up on my chase for supernova elite. We are also going to start a private tourney on stars every Sunday for spacegravy poker and put a bounty on me. Everyone is welcome to play so make sure to check back soon about the details. Also big congrats to jorj95 for making Team Online for Pokerstars. He is an amazing grinder and a good guy so definitly deserving. Gl guys.

Traveling and three students coming in on Tuesday

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Hey guys,

The last couple weeks I’ve been in NYC and Washington D.C. with my gf for spring break so haven’t put too much grinding in. I played today and got 15th and 18th in big tourneys where first place was ~25k, frustrating but still profited ~$3k for the day. I also played in a private tourney for PokerVT where everyone is going to send in their HH’s to make a colaberated video which should be up next week so make sure to look out for that.  On Tuesday we’re getting three students in so gonna be a really busy week, I will let everyone know how their progress is coming along.

3rd in the $100rb for $50k

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Hey guys,

I finally got out of my long stretch of 11th place finishes last Sunday when I came in 3rd place in the largest $100rb for around $50k. I am now up around $115k for the year after rakeback and bonuses so really happy about my results considering I havn’t spent that much time playing. I’ve spent alot more time coaching and am excited about how well our operation is coming along. Right now we have two guys from Belgium and Holland and are  getting alot accomplished. I am confident when they get out of here they will be steady winning grinders.  Our business has gotten a huge demand and is booked for the next couple months but if anyone would like to book at a later time make sure to reserve a spot!  Take it easy.

3 Free students selected!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Hey guys,

Just wanted to thank everyone again with the contest and although everyone who participated deserves free coaching, we could only select three students and after spending alot of time we came down to the winners. Congrats to Rick Collard, Roberto Quesada, and Dylan Meagher who won. They will all be coming down over the next couple months and will post their results.

We also added a private group online for every student who comes to the training center so we can give help and stay in touch after the students leave. For our students we have had so far, their bios, blogs, and results will be up soon. We are also getting a second house for spacegravy poker and are looking for someone to live there full time. We would like this person to be a professional poker player specializing in cash/mtts/ or sng’s. If you are interested add me on facebook and we can set it up.

As for my life, running a business, grinding, surfing, making videos for PokerVT, and traveling back in forth to the US to visit my GF has made me very busy. I made three videos for PokerVT at the end of last month and the first one should be posted next Tuesday. After that you can expect a new video made from the training center up every week. Our last student, Derek from Denver, Colorado just left and am feeling really good about how much he progressed while here. I wish him the best of luck perusing his desire to becoming a pro poker player when he returns.

Last month, after rakeback and bonuses I profited about $30,000 so happy about starting the new year off solid. I’ve been 25 tabling the $114’s-$225 9 mans and 6maxs, while throwing in some 45 mans, 180 mans, and a couple MTT’s. I’ve been doing well but not 100% focussed after playing for a couple hours into the day. It’s tough when there are so many distractions(friends talking, people sending me aim messages etc.) I think I will try reducing tables as the games become tougher throughout the year to make sure I am playing my best.

Well, time to get some sleep hope everyone is doing well.
