Hey everyone! So my month long challenge didn’t go as expected. I played about 2500 games and only profited about $2700. I think the main problem was my ridiculous break even stretch at the $2.20’s and $3.30’s for over 1000 games in the beginning. Honestly, I didn’t even think that was possible at those levels to run that bad for such a long stretch but it is. I mainly played 45 mans and 180 mans but threw in a couple 9 man sessions. Another thing is that I probably could have dedicated myself a little bit more. I did grind really hard but I know I’m capable of playing double that amount of games in a month. It’s just really difficult to do that when all my friends are out surfing, hanging out, and having fun. Another thing was that I had no money on the line or nothing to really lose if I didn’t meet my goal ($10,000.)
I apologize for my lack of blogging for the past week. After my challenge I really didn’t feel like doing anything. Last Sunday I got home (Richmond, Virginia) so I hung out with my girlfriend for a few days then came to my parents house for the holidays. It’s nice seeing family but the transition from 90 degree weather and a beach in my backyard to a foot of snow on the ground kind of sucks. I got sick within about three days of being home.
Since I’ve been snowed in I’ve been leisurely grinding all day, playing no more than about 10 tables. What’s funny is that since the day after my challenge I’ve played 206 games and made $2,208. Yesterday I finished 4th in the $7.50 turbo, 2nd in a $2.20 turbo, and had a decent cash in the sunday million. The 2nd in the $2.20 was complete garbage because when I got heads up things got messed up. First off I got it all in ftw with 2 pair and dude sucked out on the river hitting his two pair or flush or something stupid. Then I grinded him down again, having a very nice chip lead, and pokerstars decided to freeze. Since it froze it didn’t give me time (like when you disconnect) and sat me out. By the time I got to another computer I had blinded off and finished 2nd for about 1k or so. I was extremely extremely frustrated, not really for the extra $400 that I would have got for 1st, but for the satisfaction of beating 5300 people and getting mass TLB points. Oh well I e-mailed stars about the problem and hopefully they will work something out with me.
One thing about poker and life is that you have to learn to forget the past, focus on the present, and look forward to the future. Right now I’m pretty much snowed in at my parents house so I’m using this time to play mtt’s and my usual mtt sngs. I’m really excited about going to the Bahamas for PCA with my girlfriend, and eventually heading back to Costa Rica. By the way I am selling half my action in PCA so if your interested in buying shares PM me on 2p2 (facestealer) or leave one. I’m pretty sure the poker gods gave me all of my run bad juice during my challenge so there wont be any for PCA. Which basically means I’m gonna win.
Here is my graph for the challenge for you all to point and laugh at. Enjoy!
